Party-Proof Your Diet These easy swaps will battle bulge from now till New Year's.
Family dinner
Whatever the cause—Grandma's "It's only once a year" refrain or gorging to avoid being quizzed by a nosy aunt—our hips tend to grow in proportion to the size of any family gathering. They won't if you choose wisely.
Eat This: | Not That: |
Mushroom gravy | Cranberry sauce |
Per ½ cup: 55 cal, 2 g fat (0 g sat), 6 g carbs, 471 mg sodium, 1 g fiber, 2 g protein | Per ½ cup: 209 cal, 0 fat, 54 g carbs, 40 mg sodium, 1 g fiber, 0 g protein |
Cranberry sauce would be a health food—if it weren't loaded with more than four tablespoons of sugar per half cup.
Eat This: | Not That: |
Sliced ham | Turkey drumstick |
Per 3 oz: 139 cal, 7 g fat (2 g sat), 3 g carbs, 1,109 mg sodium, 1 g fiber, 14 g protein | Per drumstick: 416 cal, 13 g fat (4 g sat), 0 g carbs, 196 mg sodium, 0 g fiber, 70 g protein |
Say hello to the other white meat (would you believe it has only 70 calories per slice?) and goodbye to that Neanderthal-esque turkey leg.
i say save up for the bad so when your broke you can go to Taco Bell!!! lol

America's Healthiest and Unhealthiest States
America's health is failing. And no one likely knows that better than those in Louisiana.
It lands at the bottom of a list measuring the health of the nation's 50 states. Joining it at the bottom are Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
Vermont was crowned the healthiest state for the second consecutive year. Hawaii, New Hampshire, Minnesota and Utah round out the top five, according to a study published Dec. 3.
Come on America get with the program....

Majority of States Now in Recession

In March, 5 States Were in Recession; Now There are 27 With 14 More at Risk
What started out as a housing problem in a few states has now exploded into a full-fledged recession with a majority of states now in or dangerously close to recession.
Just this weekend, President Bush's top economic advisor used the much-avoided word "recession" to describe the economies in some states.
"We are seeing what I think anyone would characterize as a recession in certain parts of the country," Edward P. Lazear, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, said on CNN's "Late Edition."
Back in March, Mark Zandi, chief economist and co-founder of Moody's Economy.com, said that only five states were in recession: Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan and Nevada.
Now, he said that 27 states are in recession and another 14 are near recession.
"There's no way around the map. It says the nation is in recession. The recession is coast to coast," Zandi said. "Just a handful of states are expanding at this point. One of the unique features of this downturn is how broad-based it is, regionally."
What happened between March and today?

Orlando Predators Football Team To Be Sold
"The majority owner called me this morning and said he was selling the team and would hopefully have an announcement on that very soon," Centroplex executive director Allen Johnson said.
Season ticket sales dropped from 14,000 to 12,000 for the team last year.
The news isn’t good for the league, either, because experts said that its facing financial troubles as well.
The New Orleans franchise folded in October and sources told the Denver Post that if the league doesn't find financing by Dec. 19, it could be forced to dissolve.
"I think the problem may be larger than just the Orlando Predators. The AFL is going through some changes financially," Johnson said.

Today's Leo Horoscope:
Dec 08, 2008
When's the last time you used a pen and paper, dear Leo? In this day and age of computers, the keyboard has all but replaced these wonderful tools. In the same way that walking provides much more than fresh air, the kinesthetic value of the rhythmic motion that occurs in writing with a pen is far more soothing and even healing than most realize. Moving your hand across the page can feel good and unlock places within you that aren't always accessed by typing. Try some of this today.

Make sure that you are living your life consciously at this time, dear Leo. It could be that you are going through a great deal of denial and you simply refuse to see the truth of the situation. Open your eyes up to the world around you so that you may invite joy and compassion into your life. Don't let yourself be satisfied with superficial interactions that don't really fill you up.

New HAIR
Today's Leo Horoscope: Dec 01, 2008
Take action on creating a fanciful dream world today, dear Leo. Indeed, much of the activities of the day will be touched with an air of otherworldliness. Although you generally like to keep your feet on the ground, realize that once in a while it is essential to let go and experience other realms of thought in order to gain new perspectives on things. Let your hair down, and go wild tonight.
...going wild tonight will consist of Prison Break, Gossip Girl & One Tree Hill...woo hoo! such a daredevil...!!!!

Today's Leo Horoscope:
Nov 20, 2008
In the past you may have preferred not to acknowledge your own psychic abilities, dear Leo, but today they could prove impossible to ignore. Visions, premonitions, and telepathic messages from others could be popping into your mind all day. This shouldn't be treated as something strange, but rather you should regard it as a source of inner power. Abilities like this increase your understanding of others as well as yourself.

10 Ways to Be Happier
A few years ago, on a morning like any other, I had a sudden realization: I was in danger of wasting my life. As I stared out the rain-spattered window of a New York City bus, I saw that the years were slipping by.“What do I want from life?” I asked myself. “Well…I want to be happy.” I had many reasons to be happy: My husband was the tall, dark, handsome love of my life; we had two delightful girls, ages 1 and 7; I was a writer, living in my favorite city. I had friends; I had my health; I didn’t have to color my hair. But too often I sniped at my husband or the drugstore clerk. I felt dejected after even a minor professional setback. I lost my temper easily. Is that how a happy person would act?I decided on the spot to begin a systematic study of happiness. (A little intense, I know. But that’s the kind of thing that appeals to me.) In the end, I spent a year test-driving the wisdom of the ages, current scientific studies, and tips from popular culture. If I followed all the advice, I wanted to know, would it work?Well, the year is over, and I can say: It did. I made myself happier. And along the way I learned a lot about how to be happier. Here are those lessons.

Why Obama is the new Reagan
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/SuperModels/why-obama-is-the-new-reagan.aspx?page=1
Barack Obama now stands in broad daylight, where skeptical investors in Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing and London can assess the real man instead of the political animal running for election.
I think they will find his intelligence, his oratory, his dedication to public service, his ease at gathering smart advisers, his ability to inspire confidence and his tight management of a brilliant political campaign are all the real deal. As a result, despite his incredibly thin résumé, investors will come to believe he is ready to take on this august job.
It's almost impossible to say with certainty how Obama will govern as these difficulties arise, for there is nothing in his background that will help us judge. We can only pray that he approaches issues in a holistic way -- not reactively but with a grand plan into which each fresh nuance is thoughtfully fit -- much as he conquered the intricacies of the long presidential race.
I'm hopeful Obama will turn out to be as successful as Ronald Reagan in this regard. Reagan was no genius in the classic sense, but he had a thoughtful, humanistic vision that guided his path. And for the most part he had a good economic team that cleaned up the titanic mess of the 1980-81 recession and, after an initial 20% decline in the stock market in his first 20 months, delivered us into a bull market that generally prevailed for 25 years.
*I absolutly have the upmost respect for President Reagan & for Obama to be compared to Reagan makes me feel so much more GREAT about my decision!**Way to go Obama!

From one blog to Another
My guess is that the first six months of his presidency will be closely watched. Quite frankly, President-elect Obama must deliver or risk alienating the young voters who ultimately propelled him to office by running up big margins in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio and Florida. It has been an historic night.
Now the challenge has begun: an economy in peril, two wars and a broken health care system. It's a challenging agenda -- one that no one would willingly want to inherit. Yet, President-elect Obama will wake up tomorrow morning with those challenges ahead. I think I speak for all Americans in wishing him good luck.

My congratulations go out to you AMERICA
Race was/is never an issue for me but from talking to others & hearing there ignorance when they speak about not electing a very suitable canidate for Presidency because of the color of there skin. Where is the intelligence in that? From now on they will be referred to as ignorant. I know that those ignorant people have the full complete understanding that we were all made the EXACT same way. Didn't your mama ever tell you "Don't judge a book by it's cover"?
I am glad though that Americans listened to the facts & not the gossip. Putting there best foot forward to better ourselves & our other allies around the world.
Congratulations America you made the right choice. And today like everyother day I am very Proud to be an AMERICAN!

Voting is just a week away!!!!!
HUGE ad in USA Today....

UNCERTAIN TIMES REQUIRE A STEADY HAND
Our country faces enormous challenges – a failed war, a crippling deficit, and an economy in crisis. We live in uncertain times, and we need a president with sound judgment and steady leadership.
That’s why millions of Republicans across our country are rejecting the divisive politics of the past.
“We are voting for Barack Obama.”
Because we are serious about getting our government’s long-term finances in order, putting our economy back on track, ending the war in Iraq responsibly, and keeping America safe.
Because Barack Obama is bringing all of us together to reject the Karl Rove school of wedge politics and fundamentally change the way Washington Works
Because even though we’re proud to be Republicans, we are Americans first.
Now is the time for Americans to stand together. Our country faces enormous challenges and we simply cannot afford more of the same.
I would kick his ASS & then divorce Him!!

Can't Believe I am just Finding This
Dear Mr. President Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly
What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror Are you proud
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why
Dear Mr. President Were you a lonely boy Are you a lonely boy
How can you say No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells While you pay the road to hell
What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
Let me tell you about hard work Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you about hard work Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you about hard work Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you about hard work Hard work Hard work
You don't know nothing about hard work Hard work Hard work Oh
How do you sleep at night How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President You'd never take a walk with me Would you

I believe...
HJ has a fever today of 101 & is out of school. (and last night told me she wants to go live w/ her Dad bc I was making her go to sleep)...CL (dare devil herself) feel down the step at the new house & bumped her head @ 6:30 am. At 8:20 the boyfriend J was calling me asking if we were together? Very disoriented because his head just went through the window of the work truck that was just involved in an accident. I spent all day trying to convience him to go to the hospital. Finally after he tells me that he has been bleeding out of his ear & I stop the paramedic at the gas station does he decide to go to the hospital. FINALLY! (what is with men & being tuff?). He leaves me to go to the house take a shower & go to the ER...here I am trying to call him 15 minutes after he left & he doesn't answer the phone...for an hour & a half...! I am freaking by now...Called R & R and my Dad to see if someone can go by & check on him...finally he calls me back to tell me to calm down he was resting then gets pissed at me because I am a wreck & told him I was fixing to leave work because I was so worried that he had fallen a sleep. Now he's pissed. & I can't help but care so much...maybe i'm better by myself???

Let someone else bask in the spotlight a while. Sing the praises of other people.
Love:
Take some time today to reflect on how far you've come in your relationship. You can feel proud of what you've achieved so far and things just keep getting better.
M O V I N G !!!!
All of which I was someway involved in this weekend.
Moved into my own place w/ the excitment barely able to stay within my body I went & picked the key up on my lunch break & began to start cleaning...still haven't stopped. Painted only 2 rooms & I was so sick of it after the first one!
Then the worst part is feeling like I have been forgotten. Everyone knew how excited I was and most people swung by to take a peek & congratualte me...but 2 VERY important people in my life did not. I'm not mad or pissed at them just my feelings are very much hurt.
On the up side...J was an amazing help...I couldn't have done it without him. Wow! I knew that I loved him before but if it is at all possible to be more in love with someone...His dedication to detail and kindness sealed the deal. I am so Glad he was with me this weekend.
I know all the cleaning, painting & moving will somehow look better w/ time...Where did my friends go?

For sure Obama took yet another one. With even having to spend all of his time defending himself against a very scared McCain, Obama kept his cool. McCain came to this final debate very much unprepared. Lying repeadtly over facts that he obviously didn't research.

There is no law that says you can't stir things up once in a while! Be provocative.
Overview
There is no law that says you can't stir things up once in a while! Today, pick a controversial topic and ask someone smart what they think about it. Who knows whether any major drama will erupt or not -- but you will get a charge of out whatever happens. Hearing people's opinions is usually a great way to build your relationship with them, so choose a person to talk to who you want to spend some more time with. Flirting can be an intellectual pursuit.
Some Green tips...that also save you $MONEY$
The winning number is . . . 78
To keep cool during summer's heat, set your air conditioning thermostat at 78 degrees. When you leave your house, turn it up a few notches to 85 degrees or higher and plan on a savings of 6-8 percent for each degree you raise the setting. In the winter, set your thermostat at 68 degrees. (Air conditioning and heating account for more than 50 percent of the electric bill!)
Breezy does it
Installing ceiling fans throughout your home will help you stay comfortably cool. In fact, you could raise your thermostat several degrees and not feel the difference. Turn fans off in unoccupied areas.

Casey Anthony was taken to the Orange County jail around 7:00pm Tuesday evening following her indictment on a first-degree murder charge handed up by a grand jury less than an hour earlier. Her latest mug shot looks much like her first three, keeping a straight face without any emotion.
Bottled water has contaminants too, study finds
"In some cases, it appears bottled water is no less polluted than tap water and, at 1,900 times the cost, consumers should expect better," said Jane Houlihan, an environmental engineer who co-authored the study.
The researchers recommend that people worried about water contaminants drink tap water with a carbon filter.

Picked up the Mini Van, went & signed the lease to my new place, paid the deposit & when I arrived to pick up 2 members of the SBHB club they were taking forever...HJ repeats "Hurry Up Betches" & CL follows...(this continued late into the night...hopefully HJ doesn't repeat it at school...definetly expolsion) we picked up our second round of Taco Bell (the dumb ass' put onions on C burrito even tho I said not to like 5 times) & headed back to my house to pick up our final member & finally headed to the Southern Womens Show. While driving I was VERY surprised to find that one (not going to name names) of the members has NEVER masterbated & the other only started about 3 months ago...Hello am I the only one that started before I had actual Sex?? JA & I are soo...not ashmed about or Mbating...we actually encourage it. I've never been embarassed by it. It really just blew my mind. So we decided as a group that we are going to have an S party...get those girls w/ the times. Seriously...! I don't think I would get through being single w/out mbating.
I loved the Southern Womens Show. Who doesn't love getting FREE stuff?? Watched a fashion show put on by Fire Fighters. HJ got up on stage for a Dance contest! She did wonderful. CR fell in LOVE w/ my ladies & CL is in Love w/ her to...dropped 2 members SBHB off & D & I talked about drinking to much & pucking almost the entire way home...dropped my final member off & then the van that i wanted so keep =( . Had dinner w/ J & back to the house...the toilet clogged...took a shower...had amazing S. TWICE! I mean like Porn S & then makin the LOVE S...made me shake & exploded. I loved it! So the stress reliever I needed...Other members were Mbating. Although I do like Mbating...I like the real thing bettA!

SBHB Club...
4 members w/ the same things in common...we all are skinny, broken hearted, & betches. Some of us more than others.
Purpose of our club...See we have all been through the same exact thing (they all seem to be related somehow). We are each others support group. In our club there is always someone to talk to, cry to, betch to, gossip to, whine to. Someone always there whether it is via text, phone or 100 emails (LOL).
We are not a Men hating club...ACTUALLY we LOVE the males...really we do!
And I am so thankful to be a part of this club w/ these ladies...

Bush: ‘We can solve this crisis and we will’
"We are a prosperous nation with immense resources and a wide range of tools at our disposal ... We can solve this crisis and we will," Bush said in brief remarks from the White House Rose Garden.
Bush spoke as leaders of the world's leading economies gathered in Washington amid frozen credit markets, panic selling in stock markets and a looming global recession.
Bush noted that major Western economies were working together in an attempt to stabilize markets and end the spreading panic.
"Through these efforts, the world is sending an unmistakable signal. We're in this together and we'll come through this together," Bush said.

In the end it’s always the good things that matter, not the bad!
You are in this world to love someone. Find that someone and love them until you can’t feel anything anymore. It’s worth the pain. It’s worth the time. It’s worth giving up every piece of dignity you have. Even if it makes you look like a fool. Even if it makes you look stupid in everyone else’s eyes. Don’t ever ever ever listen to what they tell you or what they make you feel. Because in the end, we all go through the same thing. We love and hurt. We love and die. Loving is never really owning. Loving is giving everything you can and trying to give everything you cannot. You must never expect anything in return if you love. Love with all your heart and if he cannot give anything in return, learn to accept that and wait for your love to fade. Never ever hope for love to vanish. Because I tell you, it won’t. When you love someone, it will never go away. It will just fade. There will always be a little piece of your heart that will yearn for him. You cannot make it go away. You have to accept things for what they are and what they are meant to be. Learn to let go and move on. Learn to remember the good things that you’ve shared with him, even if it’s not mutual. Learn to remember the way he smells, the way his eyes look when he’s happy, the way he smiles, the way he laughs, the way he walks, the way he talks, the way he says hello and the way he says good bye. Don’t forget the memories just because he cannot give anything in return. Look back and remember the good things because in the end it’s always the good things that matter, not the bad.Learn to face rejection with dignity and grace. It will make you stronger.

The Crying Game: Dealing With Tears at Work
TV pundits and bloggers couldn't stop talking about her. Not her politics but her "show of emotion." They wondered how people would respond: Was it the end of her campaign? Was it a setback for women? Was it staged to get attention?
Her response, for what it's worth, was that her desire to improve the country kept her going during the longest presidential primary campaign in the history of the United States. Although few high profile politicians shed tears on the campaign trail, did that moment really merit all the hoopla?
"Though I don't think anyone should cry on purpose, a spontaneous cry is only damaging to the person who feels they are weak because they are crying," she says. "It is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of being human."

Particularly this article drew me in because one of my besties J whom I had the pleasure of working with for 4 1/2 years told me that she was crying at her desk. This was the girl that up holds my up most respect not only on a personal leval but a perfessional one also. See I have found myself many times crying at work. All the times that I did that I felt weak or under the men that I work among. When J told me of her insedent it finally hit me...it is not because we are weak it is because we are not only emotional women we are Human. I am glad I found this article because it is good to know that it is not only J & I that have cried at work.

One minute he's hot...talking to me the way I want to be talked to...holding me the way I want to be held...looking into my eyes the way that just makes me melt...the moments that make it so hard for me to walk away to forget about him...
Then the next he is sooo...cold says he is going to call me back and then doesn't, we have plans for dinner & he cancels...tells me he is starting not to care...
So many reasons to not be together but sooooo....many more reasons to be together.
Just so confused...the forgiveness is beginning....

I Love Quotes....
"He who Angers you, Controls you."
And I heard this one a while back from Randy Pausch the professor who had a world famous speech when he found out he was going to die...
"Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want"
Now if I could just learn to live my life that way....

Last Night
I know this feeling is not going to go away I know that because after everything I am still in love with him. I do know however that being mad at him will go away....
A thought about friends...
My bestfriend thinks there should be no questions...she thinks I should just give up...she says she will not support me on this decision...
I was lost...why do I have to choose...and then Carmen told me this....
"Friends don't judge you... They listen and they try to understand and when they don't understand, they support you and walk hand in hand with you so when you fall they can help break that fall.... She'll have to learn to deal with who ever is in your life.. that's choice that only you can make.... no one can or should try and change matters of the heart...."
and I think that sums it all up.....
Wow they hit this one right on the HEAD!
You are going to be a valuable asset to others today, dear Leo, because of your rational frame of mind and ability to think things through clearly. The stubborn forces around you are not going to bend, but you have the unique ability to do so. Do your best to avoid fights, even though it will be tempting for you and others to want to let out some hot steam.

So if no one else is proud of you Jeremy I am it takes a good Man to do all you do!
He...
I know that it hasn't hit me yet. This just seems like a vacation from my life that I have lived as normal knowing all along that it wasn't. This is only going to get worse before it gets better.

BREAK IT — When done right, any colors can be worn together. Of course prints can contain numerous hue combinations, but solid blocks of heretofore taboo pairings can also look scads more stylish than a play-it-safe palette. Black/brown, black/blue, even red/pink all work if you keep the tone the same — pastel shades put together, inky colors partnered, neon brights paired up.
***Okay so Jerriann finds this story on MSN & then has the nerve to refernce the piece about White...I mean seriously I have seen the girl where white a handful of times in our 4 year relationship (not lesbian but we are considering...desperate times call for desperate measures) anyhow, this girl mixes & matches colors like crazy...things that I would never ever think about. I have seen her in Green & Pink...Pink & Yellow...Mint Green & Yellow...I am just very happy to know that the girl isn't crazy...just a few years before her time.***

**wow that is insightful**
Today's Leo Horoscope: Sep 17, 2008
This is how I see it....
As adults as Women we still are that little girl on the playground....the one that instead of getting our pig tails pulled it's our emotions instead. We fall in love & consume our lives with that one boy and even when he starts to pull our "Pig Tails" we are still attracted to him.
Don't we deserve better? Better than Cheaters, Liars, Absent, Heart Breakers? Don't we deserve someone who can realize what's right in front of there faces...A great girl!
I think if we as Women realized how strong we are! How beautiful we are! We could walk away from a man who is treating us badly.
The world is a very different place than even when our parents were first married...this day and age it is ok to walk away from a man who does not treat you equal. Women are equal and just as strong as a man. If we realized it we could do wonders with our power. Point is we deserve to be treated with respect, love, honor, density & care.
Remind yourself that for the very first time in history a Women ran for President!
This Lady was Genius....

How Could You
I thought that you told me, we were the perfect pair;
How was I to trust you, w/my tender heart;
I should have known that all you'd do, is tear it all apart;
So please forgive me, for what I'm bout to do;
I'm bout to clear you from my mind, so I can start over new;
I used to plan everything, revolving around you;
Now I constantly scream, CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO
